You keep Dentrix Ascend. This is an add-on, not a replacement — nothing about your cloud setup, your workflow, or your team's training changes.
Record at the chair or narrate after. Speech is transcribed live with a model tuned for dental vocabulary, so composite, SRP, articaine and tooth numbers come back right.
You get a structured clinical note, not a transcript dump. Edit anything before it goes anywhere — nothing reaches Dentrix Ascend until you approve it.
The approved note writes into the patient's chart in Dentrix Ascend, attributed to the treating provider and dated to the visit.
Setup connects through the Dentrix Ascend API. Nothing to install on a workstation, no conversion, and no export or re-import of your data.
No. Dentrix Ascend stays your system of record and your chart stays where it is — this writes into it.
Into the patient's clinical notes in Dentrix Ascend, dated to the visit and attributed to the treating provider. It is a normal chart entry, readable by your whole team whether or not they use us.
No — not for dictation. The visit is transcribed as you speak and the dictation audio is discarded; it is never written to disk, to cloud storage, or to a database. Only the text is kept, and only for 24 hours, so an interrupted recording can be picked back up. The finished note is permanent. (Separate consent-based recording features, which a practice turns on deliberately, do store audio — those are opt-in and distinct from dictation.)
The transcript keeps saving as you speak, so a dropped connection or an interruption mid-visit does not lose the words. You are offered the recording back and can carry on where it stopped.
Yes. Protected health information is encrypted at rest at the field level, and we sign a BAA before any patient data is exchanged.
A note you have not yet filed can be edited or regenerated freely. Once a note is in the chart it is a clinical record, so corrections file as a dated addendum rather than silently rewriting what was already there.
If you already run Dentrix Ascend and charting is what keeps your providers late, this closes that gap without touching anything else. Your chart, your data, your PMS — one fewer hour of charting.
